What does it mean to be intregrative?
Rather than just a cognitive or talk therapy approach, I use an experiential approach that engages all parts of the person and brings in body practices, emotional work, and Christian spiritual integration.
Meet Joseph Lundsten
I received my MA in Counseling from Bethel University in May of 2020. Since then, I have had experience working with a large range of clients in schools, outpatient and intensive outpatients settings, dual-diagnosis programs, and private practice settings.
I am a Christian counselor who takes a relational, person-centered, trauma informed, emotion-focused, body based approach to build joy, peace, and freedom in my client’s lives. I strive to encounter my clients wherever they are at and to collaborate towards building meaningful and lasting goals in our work together. The integrative approach I use incorporates Somatic Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy Models, Emotion-Focused Therapy for Couples and Individuals, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and EMDR inspired interventions all through an authentically Christian lens. My specialities are PTSD & Trauma, Grief & Loss, OCD & Scrupulosity, Sexual Addiction & Integrity, Anxiety & Phobias, Depression, Addiction & Substance Use, Tic Disorders, Chronic Health Issues, Faith & Spirituality, and Relational & Family Issues.

To keep my practice focused on client care, I do not take insurance. Here are some reasons why:

-
Insurance companies require an official DSM-V diagnosis in order to cover counseling services. They also can require full access to any diagnostic records and progress reports in order to determine both the length of sessions and whether or not a specific diagnosis or treatment warrants coverage.
-
In my experience, people seek out counseling serves for a myriad of reasons that do not include an official mental health disorder. These could include but are not limited to a career change, grief, financial stress, life adjustment, family and couple's conflict, marriage prep, spiritual struggles, and general life stressors.
-
Ultimately, I think it is best for the counselor and client to have full autonomy to determine the best treatment plan and treatment length together based on the client's presenting concerns and needs.

For those who might not be able to make the general rate work, there are three possible routes to help with financial need that I would be happy to discuss more during the free phone consultation:

-
It is possible to get reimbursed by insurance through seeking Out-of-Network Reimbursement.
-
I am able to accept payments through Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Plans.
-
I am able to offer reduced rates for clients depending on availability and need.
